In an interview with the Italian La Repubblica, the Chief of Staff of the Defense Forces of Italy, Admiral Cavo Dragone, said that three ships of the Russian Navy entered the Adriatic Sea in the past days and weeks – a cruiser, a destroyer and a spy ship. The Italian Navy monitored Russian movements with three frigates and a submarine.

The American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) is also operating in the Adriatic Sea, which is part of the battle group that arrived in the Mediterranean Sea in mid-December last year on a longer mission.
