On Friday evening, he drove into people in the parking lot of a shopping center in the south of Zagreb. In the process, five people were injured, one is said to be in mortal danger. According to Croatian media, the 23-year-old allegedly lost control of the Mercedes sports car during the rampage. The police took away his freedom.

According to the media, the accident happened during a ti car meet, i.e. showing off and testing the abilities of expensive fast vehicles modeled after American movies.

The accident is said to have happened around 10 p.m. The driver is said to have lost control of his Mercedes car with Zagreb registration plates during the rampage in the parking lot and flew at high speed into a crowd of people who were watching the event. In doing so, he hit the trio, as well as a parked car with two other people in it.

“Upon arrival, it was found that several injured persons were lying on the ground. We called three more ambulances for intervention. The person who was under the car was rescued by emergency medical personnel. “Our team helped the rescuers in taking care of the injured,” the Zagreb fire department announced.

The five injured, aged between 21 and 33, were transported to various hospitals in the Croatian capital. Three people have minor injuries, one more serious, but not in mortal danger, and doctors continue to fight for the life of a 33-year-old man. According to eyewitness accounts and footage posted on social media, the impact was so powerful that it lifted at least one person into the air.

The police arrested the suspended driver and he is in custody, a criminal investigation is also underway. He faces multiple criminal charges. According to the latest information, the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, he is said to have expressed remorse for his actions.
