Symposiums about important Slovenian figures, whom the communists did not like and still do not like, are something special in Slovenia. I remember how, shortly after the end of a symposium on the poet France Balantič, when I had already returned to the editorial office of the SAZU Slovenian Biographical Lexicon, where I worked, a professor from the Faculty of Arts visited me. It was widely known about him that he was not a particularly valued expert, but above all the faculty “admirer of all advisors”.

This man, all smiles, walked into my office completely by chance to borrow an umbrella because it was raining. But when he chose one of the three that were in the stand in the corner by the door, he told me how satisfied he was with the course of the symposium: “We are lucky to have our…k.! Otherwise, the whole thing would turn into a home defense demonstration!”

For a few more days, that “our…k.” was buzzing in my brain. Which meant to me that the symposium on Balantič was led by the highest scientific and cultural authority, that it was blind, and that it did more harm than good to the poet Balantič, the greatest Slovenian poetic talent after Prešern. “Our”, Udbovski, “…k.”? Yes Udbovski. “Our” “God and batina” according to Ziherl and Vidmar. So the symposium was bogus, completely unscientific. Just as, according to the request from the scientific summit of Udb, all studies, almost all works by a single author, about the greatest Slovenian poets and cultural figures who were not favorites of the communist party are unscientific. So much so that no one can blame the party for ignoring them. Fakes themselves.

High science, however, deals with avant-garde art in all seriousness. Especially those wretched types – with Balkan nursing dogs, because there are no longer enough Slovene children and Slovene mothers, so to speak, for “reproduction”, for the existence of Slovenes.

Instead of Prešeren’s and Cankar’s mother, Slovenian science honors – especially with Prešeren’s awards – multicultural, actually Balkan, nurses of Balkan dogs. Our new Udbovski “…k…” but nothing.

The people of Svoboda, more than half of Slovenia, and all the hidden right-wing supporters praise them: “We are lucky to have them.” This is how more and more Udbov professors at philosophy and all other faculties, not only in Ljubljana, happily exclaim. All of them are fighters against a supposedly new, Home Guard-like movement, which they call Janshism. The Slovenian Udb intelligentsia, almost all of today’s scientific and cultural cream, is looking forward to the imminent victory over the last Janšists, looking forward to their complete erasure from historical memory, down to sterility. The dog’s mother replaced Prešer’s and Cankar’s. This is Freedom. This is the realization of Udbov’s visions of Slovenian culture. Milan Kučan will also be buried in the tomb of national heroes in the middle of Titoist, Balkan, Ljubljana.

Is Europe similar to this – Slovenian, Faustian, Udb politics, science and culture sleeping with Satan? Is the whole world already dominated by such a – Slovenian-like – barbaric intellectual elite? Is the fate of all Western totalitarianism shaped by a Faustian, scientific and cultural elite so unbelievably similar to the Slovene people, sleeping with Satan himself? Did the fall of the Berlin Wall bring Stalinism to Europe?

Quite by chance, I thought of how Mr. Janez Janša said one of the most frightening truths about the political left currently in power in Slovenia – that it is barbaric.

Of course, with this statement by Janš, I asked myself what is actually the most characteristic of political barbarism in Slovenia. Is it primarily a lack of political culture? Or maybe it is a special barbarism among the Slovenians, most similar to an irresistible longing for death. Almost all the main characters in the literature of Slovenia’s greatest writer, Ivan Cankar, are obsessed with this longing.

Realizing that they have no possibility, and no power, to live the life they want to live, Cankar’s heroes surrender to self-destruction. The exception is actually only Cankarjan’s mother, the most hated literary figure of Slovenian communists and – especially – communist women. They only worship the canine nurse. So to speak – a surrogate dog mother. And this is certainly the core of the current, new, Balkan Udb barbarism. This is Freedom. This Freedom is nothing more than a reborn and rejuvenated Slovenian udba, which in the absurd death of the Slovenian nation and – if “everything goes according to luck”, also the end of independent Slovenia. Such is Svoboda’s udb vision of Slovenia. Beneath the apparent freedom is a carefully planned great Slovenian suicide.

Such are also scientific symposia on Slovenian spiritual giants, for example on Balantič, dr. Pučnik and others. They are organized in such a way that they do more harm than good to their greatness. In any case, they do not increase the great importance of their works in comparison with the communist-Udbov historical “truth”. The only truth, and especially the only one that is not deadly – despite independence and Udbov-led democracy, for example: for teachers in Slovenian schools, for journalists in Slovenian media, for scientists in Slovenian institutes and universities, for politicians in Slovenian coalitions and oppositions . The same “truth” must apply to all: the barbarism of the mother dog, Balkan and Udbov, in fact the Udbov barbarism of “our…k.” I myself see the essence of Slovenian barbarism in this. In a broken will to live, which is expressed in various forms of suicide.

Slovenians are a special nation. Joy at every death and sorrow at every birth are in our blood. Of course, we also carefully cover up, hide and trivialize these two emotions, and we only show the usual form of emotion, on every occasion a very specific routine, such as is in accordance with our habits and habits, and – I suppose – is also the only one appropriate.

This joy at death and sadness at every birth occurs even at events that seemingly have no connection with a person’s departure or arrival in this world. Joy at death and sadness at every birth are the most common features of our social life as well. Let’s just look at the latest events on the intellectual “scene”. When I listened to the last symposium on the life and work of Dr. Jože Pučnik, I was most surprised by the fact that lately I have not heard so many lies in one place. And not only about dr. Pučnik, also about what is happening in Slovenia from the beginning of Tito’s dictatorship until today. All these lies were told as the pure truth, the real glad tidings – the gospel. The joy at the fact that this deceased, the “living dead”, had left in time, was not hidden by almost anyone. They were quite happy, like all the elites of the symposium so far, also from the very top of Slovenian barbaric “democracy”, from the very barbaric top of Udbov, the intellectual elite, such as Thomas Mann presented in Doctor Faustus as the main culprits for all kinds of totalitarianism in the twentieth century.

We, ordinary Europeans, are left with only an absurd life and an absurd death. I’ve known all this, at least approximately, since 1960, when I joined the Communist Party barely a year after. However, my hunches were finally confirmed by the film Until the Last Breath (1960), which I saw only in 1963. So I was made aware of the French crime drama filmed sixty-two years ago about the nothingness of life in modern society, masterfully directed by Jean-Luc Godard. After this film, I understood that Europe has no future.
