The covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine and the economic consequences that followed are the reasons for the cancellation of Air Belgium passenger planes, the airline stated. What will the future of the company look like?

The Belgian airline Air Belgium will no longer carry passengers from October. As the company explained today, the reason for the suspension of passenger traffic is financial problems. The company will now shift to cargo flights and the leasing of aircraft for commercial purposes.

Among the reasons for the problems, the company highlighted the economic consequences brought by the covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. They have also been hit hard by high fuel prices and inflation.

Air Belgium also explained that passenger flights will be operated as scheduled until October 3, while passengers who bought tickets after that date will be refunded.

The company plans to transfer staff who are currently working in the field of passenger transport to other jobs, if possible. The carrier employs 500 people.

Air Belgium was founded in 2016. Recently, it has directed its passenger flights to South Africa and Mauritius.
