Hypocrisy at its highest level: to the bend by car, then by bike to the climate conference

The (un)sustainable scam of the day is signed by the Minister of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenges, Teresa Ribera, on a rented bicycle in Valladolid, accompanied by two official cars, one behind and one in front. The bike seemed stable, but the minister not so much, although even in 2019, when asked about some of the diesel cars she owns, she said she rides a bike or walks. According to Libertad Digital, however, this is not true since he is in the Council of Ministers. The ministers of the Spanish government do not get on the bike, unless they have to publicly advocate “green changes”.

Raising awareness of sustainable mobility and cycling for a good environmental cause is just the backdrop. A backdrop of climate activists around the world, including the Spanish socialist minister Teresa Ribera, which wanted to show how “ecologically aware” it is. But she was caught doing that.

“It’s surreal. Socialist Spanish minister attends climate conference by private plane. Then, 100 meters before the venue, he gets out of the limo and sits on his bike. Safety cars follow her,” wrote a Twitter user commenting on the actual arrival of the Spanish minister at the climate conference. It couldn’t be more hypocritical, since we are talking about the same minister who, according to some Spanish media, is involved with the demolition of dams and the destruction of the Spanish primary sector with her followers.

And yet, these (un)sustainable cheaters are very angry and offended when someone serves them the truth, presents the facts, and accuses them of not doing what they ask others to do. That the sustainable mobility formulas they advocate are for others, never for them. That they demand or impose behavior changes on others, but they themselves are completely exempt from this. They find the allegation of inconsistency between their statements and behavior completely inappropriate, absurd and grotesque.

Just look at how the government representatives are doing, including the Speaker of the DZ Urško Klakočar Zupančič. We remind you that the latter was accused of a private flight to a private event in Vienna. Her response was inappropriate for someone who accuses others of polluting the environment: “NShall I come by carriage?” she said mockingly at the time. Like other quasi-advocates of sustainable development, she took advantage of her position. But if you acted like others, just as controversial and debatable, then how does an “aware” person differ from one who lacks this superior sensitivity?

There is no difference between actions and facts. According to Libertad Digital, the Spanish minister said that she is in favor of sustainable mobility, which should be enough. You don’t have to cycle to work every day to show the world that you are a member of sustainable mobility.

Their devotion to the right cause serves as a safe conduct. This is the secret of the “conscious”. And the social success of (un)sustainable reasons is right there. It is enough to register orally, say that you are concerned about environmental degradation, climate change, carbon footprint and everything else, and you have a clear conscience. Climate activists feel no obligation to do or change anything, because others will make sacrifices for what the “environmentalists” think needs to be done. Minister Ribera on a bicycle only confirms this perverse model of (un)sustainability. A model that enthrones fraud and prosecutes individual responsibility.
