The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine confirmed the attack of a Ukrainian unmanned vessel on a Russian warship in the Black Sea. “When Russian reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs meets Ukrainian drone,” they wrote alongside a shared video of the alleged collision. With this, they deny Moscow’s claims that they managed to prevent the Ukrainian attack on the ship.
On Wednesday, the Russian Defense Ministry acknowledged the attempted attack on their ship. At the same time, they ensured that the drones failed to hit the ship. “The Armed Forces of Ukraine unsuccessfully attempted to attack the Black Sea Fleet ship Ivan Khurs with three unmanned speedboats,” said the spokesman of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen Igor Konashenkov and added that they had successfully destroyed all unmanned vessels.
At the same time, Moscow also shared with the public a video that allegedly shows how one of the unmanned vessels explodes. “The Ivan Khurs ship continues to fulfill its tasks,” Konashenkov added on Wednesday.

However, a new video shared online by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry disputes Russia’s claims. With the camera installed on the vessel, they managed to capture the moments before the drone collided with the Black Sea ship. It shows a vessel approaching the ship at high speed.
“When the Russian reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs meets the Ukrainian drone. Indeed, a perfect match!” the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense wrote when sharing the video on the Russian network.
An analysis by the American CNN, showed that the video most likely shows the ship Ivan Khurs. The tip of a surface unmanned craft can also be seen.
It is not known how badly the ship was damaged in the collision and what happened after the drone attack.
