The Slovenian under-21 football team continued its unbeaten streak in a friendly match against Turkey. In Istanbul, it broke up with its Turkish peers with a 1:1 draw. Adrian Zeljković put the Slovenians in the lead in the 66th minute, and Metehan Altunbas equalized in the 81st minute.
The match was tied. The home team had a shade more on the ball, there were a few chances on both sides. In the first half, Nejc Gradišar made the best save for Slovenia, his header was saved by the Turkish goalkeeper.
The Slovenians took the lead from a corner, when Zeljković found himself perfectly in front of the goal, after an extended ball he pushed it into the net with his head. However, the Turks managed to equalize after the pressure, after a shot from a distance goalkeeper Žan Luk Leban deflected the ball, the defenders “fell asleep”, which Altunbas took advantage of.
Until the end, Sandro Jovanović still had a chance, his shot hit the home defender, in the opinion of the Slovenians even in the hand, but the referees did not award a penalty.
Slovenia started the match with Žan Luk Leban, Mitja Ilenič, Marcel Ratnik, Srdjan Kuzmic, Mark Strajnar, Žan Jevšenak, Adrian Zeljković, Svit Sešlar, Tjaš Begić, Teo Cipot, Nik Gradišar. In the following, the selector Milenko Ačimović replaced all players with the exception of the goalkeeper.
