Slovenian coach Matjaž Kek immediately focused his thoughts on the decisive showdown with Kazakhstan immediately after the defeat against the Danes.
The cones for the match of all matches, which will directly decide the second direct passenger from the group to the Euro, have long been sold out. Selector Kek congratulated the Danes for qualifying for the EP and admitted that they were simply better this time. “They were more decisive and faster in the duels. We were late every time. They had half-chances too easily. We ran behind them too much. When we scored a goal, we calmed them down a bit, at the beginning of the second half we stood too deep in defense,” Kek told Šport TV.
He pointed out that, despite the fact that some stars did not play for Denmark, the breadth of its staff was visible. “Here at the Parken stadium, nobody has won for a long time, but only the victory took us to the EP. We lacked more determination, all the other balls were theirs.”
The coach immediately switched his thoughts to Monday’s match. “This defeat is no tragedy. We must not succumb to pressure. We need to calm down and realize that we need to be more decisive and concrete. I am sure that we will be right on Monday, that Slovenia will be better then.”
