The voice of the people with a satirical ‘reality show’ about solving the health crisis

The initiative is convinced that the health crisis in Slovenia is a serious problem, comparable to the summer floods, but continues or worsens even now that the floods are gone. The satirical event was organized because they miss more conversation about this topic, including in the public media, a representative of the initiative said in a statement. Riding Jenull.

Jenull asked three participants questions with four possible answers. Among other things, they were looking for an answer to the question of how many private healthcare companies and self-employed statuses were opened in Slovenia in January this year, how many of the 50 highest-paid public sector employees were employed in the healthcare sector in the past month, how many days of vacation the average employee in the Ljubljana clinical center has , how many vacation days Austrian doctors have on average, and whether the required salary quotients of Slovenian family doctors are above or below the EU average.

As part of the campaign, the initiative collects signatures for the filing of the Act on Amendments to the Act on Emergency Measures to Stabilize the Health Care System. At the same time, they demand access to a selected personal physician for all insured persons, a limitation of double practices and the first step towards the eradication of “duplicity”, an end to the rule of capital in the public network, a shortening of queues instead of longer ones and an end to the multi-year wait for diagnostics and interventions and the preparation of action plans for shortening queues in cooperation with public institutions, which as contractors are responsible for the successful implementation of plans.

On Friday, representatives of the Voice of the People will visit the Ministry of Health Valentini Prevolnik Rupel bring an invitation to a public meeting with patients that will take place next week. “Because we found that the minister has already found time to meet with representatives of medical lobbies, medical organizations and unions, where they put their demands to her, while representatives of patients and patients’ rights have not yet had this opportunity,” Jenull explained the decision to organize a public confrontation.

When asked if he expected the minister’s participation, he replied that the minister should respond if the government wants to show that it cares about the needs of more than 140,000 people who are without a doctor of their choice.

At the same time, in the initiative, they once again called for the submission of signatures for the proposed amendment to the intervention law to ensure the stability of the health care system. Their volunteers will collect signatures in Ljubljana, Maribor, Celje, Radovljica, Kranj, Izola, Koper, Slovenj Gradac, Murska Sobota, Nova Gorica, Domžale and Vrhnika.
