A new basketball rule is being tested in Spain.
Basketball has changed regularly over the years, even in recent years it only experienced changes that did not have a significant impact on the game itself. The latest rule change could change that, especially the game should be faster.
The Spaniards are testing a rule related to the implementation of the ball from the car. Until now, the players had to first hand the ball to the referee, who then returned the ball to the player, and only then could the latter send it into play, but now the referee will not need to hand the ball over.
The players who execute the drive in this way will be able to start the attack faster, and the rivals will have to be more attentive, as they will be able to receive the basket quickly if they are less attentive. At the same time, it should be added that this will apply for the first 38 minutes of the match, and in the last two minutes or extra time, the old rule will apply, which also includes the referee.
Reaction from fans has been mixed, with most saying they like the rule as it will speed up the game. You can see how it looks in practice in the video below, which was made during a preparatory match between two Spanish first league teams, namely Manresa and Joventut.
