The 96-year-old former first lady of the United States died on Sunday Rosalynn Carterthe former US president’s center announced Jimmy Carter from Atlanta. She died just two days after joining her 99-year-old husband in palliative care at their home on Friday. The Carter Center said she died peacefully surrounded by family.
“Rosalynn has been my equal partner in everything I’ve accomplished. She gave me wise advice and encouragement when I needed it. As long as she was in the world, I knew that I had someone who loved me and supported me,” said former Democratic President of the United States Jimmy Carter.
The greatest achievement of marrying Rosalynn
Rosalynn Carter was diagnosed with dementia in May this year, and her husband, who was president of the United States for only one term, between 1977 and 1981, began palliative care at home in February. In 2015, when he was diagnosed with brain cancer, he said his greatest achievement in life was marrying Rosalynn, reports CNN.

Along with her husband, Rosalynn Carter is the President of the United States Bill Clinton received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian award in the United States.
Rosalynn was born to a seamstress mother and an auto mechanic father who died when she was just 13 years old. She met her future husband through his sister and her friend Ruth. They got married when she was 18 and he was 21.
When her husband was president, she helped him write speeches, participated in other matters during the presidential campaign and even made sure he didn’t repeat his jokes to the same people, reports CNN.
