The football teams of Slovenia and Kazakhstan are only a few hours away from the decisive final match of the group stage of the European Championship 2024. The showdown in Stožice will give another passenger to Germany from Group H, after Denmark has already qualified for the Euros. The Kazakhstan camp is determined to beat Slovenia on the road and qualify for Euro 2024.
It was before the trip to Ljubljana Magomed Adiev paid some attention to the Kazakh media and confided in them how the preparations for the decisive match with Slovenia went: “We are well prepared, we didn’t have much time, but we used the time we had well.”
A long journey is not an obstacle for Adiev and his protégés. “It is not difficult for me to travel far. We are ‘steppe wolves’ and it is in the blood of every citizen of Kazakhstan. We want to fulfill the expectations of the fans and qualify for Euro 2024,” the Russian on the Kazakhstan bench said, according to Egemen.kz.
However, the opponents arrived in Slovenia weakened, as their top scorer was absent due to injuries Bakhtiyar Zajnutdinov and the captain Ashat Tagibergen.
The 46-year-old former striker for the Slovenian national team said that “it is a serious team, that it has quality players who play in big clubs,” and in the same breath added: “The advantage is on their side, but the character and unity of the team is on our side. We have never lost to any team before a game and it is the same this time. For us, only victory counts.”
Under the leadership of Adiev, the Kazakhstan national team recorded six wins and three losses in the qualification cycle for the European Championship 2024. Out of the six defeats, they won three at home and three away, and the only away defeat was inflicted by Denmark, who already secured first place in Group H and qualification for the Euros with their victory over Slovenia on Friday.
