More than 3.5 million euros were collected at Friday’s charity match at the football spectacle in Stožice. But the amount is far from final. Many SMS HELP5 to 1919 are still coming. And since you are the one who donated, of course you have the right to know how the money is distributed: The organizers of the event guarantee that the distribution of money will be transparent, as a group has been formed to watch and will watch over who will get the money and how much.
A young family Tjaše and Primož Logar lost her semi-basement apartment in Moste pri Komenda in just a few minutes that August morning. “Everything happened in a few seconds, we were looking out as if from an aquarium. That’s the best possible description. On the other side is water, we’re in, it’s dark, what to do. And that with two children,” the Logar couple, who have two little girls aged one and three, remember the hard times. The water was rising fast and they knew they had to run. “Within five minutes there was two meters of water inside. My two parents helped and pulled them out so we could save ourselves.”
The Simply close foundation has already helped the couple, and they will continue to help, as donations from the Zvezda fugbol charity match for flood victims are still coming in. “However, the fact is that donations to the account, text messages and these things will continue to arrive for a week or so after the campaigns have been carried out, maybe more, then the final amount will be known,” explains the chairman of the board of the Simply close foundation Andrej Vodušek. “In my estimation, the number will definitely be higher, probably not drastically higher, but there will definitely be some more accumulated in the next 14 days. I think that in the end we will all be satisfied with this final proceeds,” the director of the sports marketing agency Sport Media Focus is also optimistic Tomaž Ambrožič.

Vodušek explains that the distribution of funds will be done transparently by a committee that monitors who will receive the money. “We are members of the foundation in the commission, currently me as president, two members – Nejc Tis and Tomaž Čop – and support staff who assist by radio checking. She is also a member Katja Little from DM, which sponsors the biggest campaign, the 28-hour marathon. And people from the football association and Pro Plus will probably join now.
Donations also from Africa and Cyprus
Thus, the table of how much an individual can receive based on the damage is harmonized. “For the total loss of the house from 8,000 to 15,000 euros, if the residence was flooded and not completely destroyed, we are talking about amounts between 2,000 and 5,000 euros. If the basement was flooded, up to 2,000 euros. This is according to the rules, which aligned with others,” explains Vodušek.
The charity football match was watched in as many as 27 countries around the world and donations came from all over the world. “We got a donation from Africa, from the president of the African Football Confederation. His foundation was the biggest donor of this event of ours,” says Ambrožič about the internationally resounding event, who adds that the Cyprus Football Association was the last to come forward on Saturday, which also wanted to donate.
You can still donate by texting HELP5 to 1919.
