JK Simmons, Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg are the biggest names in Hollywood to star in the upcoming film Our Man from Jersey. For the next two weeks, the footage for the Netflix action thriller will also be filmed in Piran, which, in addition to the excitement of the presence of stars of this caliber, also brings some temporary logistical measures.

> The Municipality of Piran already informed the citizens last Thursday that Piran will be transformed into the backdrop of a feature-length action film between September 19 and October 4. “A top foreign film crew will visit the old town center with the aim of filming challenging stunt shots,” they announced on the municipal website and asked for understanding and help in the implementation of the project. Namely, this calls for occasional complete road closures of markets and streets.
Action scenes in the middle of Piran
As stated in the municipality, the team of the Pakt Media production company will periodically restrict access to filming locations with 15-minute closures of certain parts of the city. Action and other scenes are expected to be filmed on Prešeren embankment, Ulica svobode, Trubarjeva ulica, Tartinije trg, Pristaniška ulica, Bolniška ulica, Trg 1. Maia with Gregorčičeva, Verdijeva, Trubarjeva and Kosovelova ulica, Vidalijeva ulica with Obzidna ulica (Porta Dolfin), Trg Bratstva with Tomšičeva and Župančičeva streets (Porta Marciana), Cankarjeva embankment, Kidričeva embankment and Dantejeva street. “The residents of Piran will not be denied access to their residences under any circumstances, only occasionally limited in time,” the municipality emphasizes.
Changed parking regime in Fornače
Vehicle owners with parking subscriptions for the Fornače parking lot in the municipality are asked to park their vehicles in the Fornače garage between September 19 and October 4, if the Fornače parking lot is occupied, where an adequate number of replacement parking spaces will be provided. “Upon entering the garage, take a parking ticket, which you will validate free of charge at the cash desk at the exit, and you will need to show a valid subscription for the Fornače parking lot,” they wrote on the municipal website.

He stated that “a movie with Morgan Freeman, Halle Berry and Scarlett Johansson is supposed to be shot in Piran,” which is only partly true. According to our information, it is the Netflix action thriller Our Man from Jersey, which he is directing Julian Farino. Occasional 15-minute complete closures of filming locations will be implemented from Monday to Friday, outside of delivery times, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. for Cankarjevo nabrežje, Kidričevo nabrežje and Danteje ulica, and from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. for other streets and squares. On Saturdays and Sundays, there will be no filming (and therefore no prisons).
The IMDB portal summarizes in the film’s trailer that it is the story of a down-to-earth construction worker from Jersey Mike, who is introduced to the world of spies and secret agents by his ex-girlfriend from high school, Roxanne.

The benefits that the hosting of a recording crew of this kind brings to the municipality of Piran are multifaceted, he says Bruno Kuzmin from the Piran mayor’s office. “First of all, it’s definitely about promotional benefits, because Piran will ‘star’ in the film with its special features,” he says.
With the arrival of the Hollywood party, which will reportedly number as many as 1,200 people, Portorož’s hoteliers, who will offer them accommodation, and restaurateurs, who will probably be able to serve them Mediterranean delicacies, will definitely be shaking their hands.
