Bosnian singer Halid Bešlić celebrates his 70th birthday today. One of the most famous musical performers in the area of the former Yugoslavia, who after four decades of career still fills concert halls across Europe, will perform in Ljubljana on February 3 next year. He spoke to the Croatian In magazine about his health and “the thing that changed his life forever”.
Legendary singer Halid Bešlić celebrates his 70th birthday today. How does he feel about that?
As Bešlić told the Croatian In magazine, he feels good. “The years go by. It’s inevitable, they say,” he said, adding that his health is serving him well. “It’s not bad considering all the problems I’ve had in my life and health. I am stable and everything is ok,” he declared. We remind you that in 2009, Bešlić had a serious car accident, in which he suffered serious injuries to his face and right eye and was initially in a coma. Eventually, he fully recovered from the accident and returned to the concert stage.
He also had heart surgery last year, where a stent was implanted. When asked how he was feeling after the operation, he said that he felt fine. “After this operation, I live a fuller life. There are no more bars, no evening outs. It’s not that I don’t want to, but I guess the time has come. I got used to going home and found myself in some other things, so the bar is not as primary to me as before. Before, life without spending the night meant nothing,” he admitted, according to Dnevnik.hr.
Despite the change in lifestyle, Bešlić still performs at full steam. On February 3, 2024, he will perform again in Ljubljana. As he told In magazin, performing can sometimes be tiring for him, but he is careful not to cross the line. Although still on concert stages, Bešlić is actually retired. “I have been officially retired for five years. I have a small German and Bosnian pension. They help me to buy something for my grandchildren, besides, I’m still working,” he said, among other things.
