Priyanka Chopra recently recalled the humiliating moment when the director put her in an awkward position on the set of one of the films, when he demanded that she be only in her underwear. The 40-year-old revealed that this happened when she was still acting in Bollywood at the beginning of her career and she felt dehumanized by his request.
“This happened in 2002 or a year later,” is for The Zoe Report she said Priyanka Choprawho recalled the beginnings of her acting career in Bollywood, and continued: “I was undercover, I was seducing a man, because that’s what girls do undercover, and I had to take off each piece of clothing separately. I wanted to wear several layers of clothes, but the director refused because he wanted to see me in her underwear, adding that this is the reason people will come to see the film.”
But the star was not only disturbed by his words, but also by the way in which he expressed his desire: “He didn’t say that to me, he said that to the stylist in front of me. It was a dehumanizing moment for me. I felt like I was just an exterior to him and I had nothing inside. My art didn’t matter, nor did my contribution.”
The actress added that it was this ordeal that encouraged her to resign from the project two days later, and she reimbursed the production team from her own pocket for the expenses they lost due to her resignation, and her father encouraged her to do the gesture. “I just couldn’t watch this director day after day,” she explained.

The star recently revealed what was the reason behind her quitting Bollywood, saying she felt pushed into a corner. “I didn’t get selected in the auditions, I was at odds with certain people and I wasn’t very good at playing the game and following the politics. I needed a break,” she said on the show Dax Shepherd March 2023.
Soon after that, she ventured into musical waters, which led her to Hollywood. “Music gave me the opportunity to travel to the other side of the world, but I didn’t long for an acting career, I wanted to go to certain clubs and meet certain groups of people,” she explained.
“If I still wanted to act in movies, I would have to crawl, but by then I had already worked hard, so I didn’t want to do it anymore. When I got an opportunity in music, I accepted it and went to America,” added the actress, who has since starred in several successful roles and built a career on the other side of the world. In 2018, she married a singer Nick Jonasand together they have one daughter.
